WHAT TO KNOW!
The Belevedere Via Ferrata just below the hill top village of Nax, above the city of Sion and overlooking the Rhone valley is a wonderful beginner’s via ferrata. Once you have parked up or got off the bus at the start, the first clipping point is just a few minutes walk.
A traditional climb up, just over 200m of granite cliff with 3 good rest points on the way up, the course is fair and fun to complete. The first part of the 3 sections is probably the hardest with a slightly awkward section at the end of the first vertical ascent.
From there, there is one other tricky move which is from the first monkey bridge onto a climb and these 2 are probably the most difficult moments of the Via Ferrata Nax.
The rest of the course is nicely designed with good foot and hand holds and minimal contact with the rock. As you go up the course which will take about 1-1.5 hours to finish, this via ferrata has wonderful views to the valley below along its length. I found it to be a really enjoyable course which is perfect for bringing new people to our wonderful adventures!
Once you reach the top, enjoy the view in Nax, and then make your way back down the path to the carpark again.
