WHAT TO KNOW!
Built in 1907 to reach the inaccessible Flimerstein plateau, the Pinut Via Ferrata is the oldest climb in Switzerland.
You feel this history as you climb up the countless iron runged ladders across traverses, through tunnels, over streams and up the cliff face. The story and the heritage of this course are incredible, especially when you consider the endeavour of the original builders up the rockface.
The course itself is enjoyable, very simple and un-technical. The first section is the real highlight especially the first 20 mins after the wired section starts. Once over a footbridge the 2nd and 3rd sections are less memorable and actually a bit of a slog. The last 50m offer a little bit of variety. Rated K2 for a few vertiginous moments and a perfect course for beginners and families.
